You can get to Franklin from Nashville by taking I-65 South to Hwy. 96. Exit West onto Hwy. 96 and it will take you right into Franklin.

The Carter House -A National Historic Landmark, this 1830's house was caught in the center of the Civil War Battle of Franklin. Tour includes museum, video presentation, and guided tour of the house and grounds. Call 615-791-1861 to find out more.

Fort Granger - In February 1863, Gen. Rosecrans ordered Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger to fortify Franklin. On Nov. 30, 1864, Confederate Gen. Hood attacked. The fort was abandoned when the Federals withdrew to Nashville but was reoccupied two weeks later as Hood's defeated army withdrew from the state. Call 615-794-2103 for additional information.

Historic Carton Plantation - Antebellum plantation served as a field hospital during the Civil War Battle of Franklin. The largest private Confederate cemetery is adjacent to the grounds. Contact them at: 1345 Canton Lane, Franklin, TN 37065-0156 or by calling 615-794-0903.

Historic Downtown Franklin - A historic shopping district featuring specialty shops, restaurants and antique stores. Downtown Franklin Association sponsors three community festivals. Main Street Festival in April; Jazz Festival in Aug.; Dickens of a Christmas in Dec. and best of all it's FREE! Contact them at: 615-591-8500 for additional information.

Lotz House Museum - Offers a large collection of identified and rare Confederate and Union artifacts. Native American artifacts, too. Contact them at: 1111 Columbia Ave., Franklin, TN 37065 or by calling 615-791-6533.

McPhail Office - Visit the site where, on Nov. 30, 1864, Union Generals Schofield and Stanley used the office as a headquarters. The office is located at: 209 E. Main, Franklin, TN 37065 , or you can call them at 615-591-8514.
