East Tennessee
National Storytelling Festival
The country's flagship storytelling weekend, in the oldest town in Tennessee.
Jonesborough turns its courthouse lawn and a set of tents over to tellers for three days. Sets run from family ghost stories to long-form traditional tales. The town itself — a few walkable blocks of brick storefronts — is half the visit. Dates follow the usual first-weekend-in-October pattern; confirm the bill on the center's site.
With children
Some evening sets are aimed at adults. Daytime family sets are marked in the program. Book lodging early; the town is small.
